About the ensemble
Established in 2003, Burnt Mango Dance Theatre began as an “nomadic international theatre collaborative”, creating and performing original works such as Aftermath with Cocoa (winner of the Melvin B Troy Award for Choreography. 2003), Diamond Baby (2004) and Craig & Miriam (2006) in Philadelphia, Bytom, Paris and London.
In the August of 2006, Burnt Mango returned to Hong Kong . Its eclectic ensemble include former office cubicle workers, freelance theatre professionals and musicians, as well as a windsurfing instructor and his 10 year old daughter. With next-to-no budget but a passion and dedication to theatre practice, the company stands testimony to the fact that it is possible to do what you love and somehow, make a living as well.

After the enthusiastic reception of their work-in progress showing (January, Y-space) Burnt Mango Dance Theatre is proud to premiere its latest devised work at the Fringe this April
Directed by award-winning choreographer Hofan Chau (HK) with the assistance of mathematician/improviser Daniel Finkel (Seattle), Concrete Jungle Berzerk! is devised from the stories and experiences of its cast members about the city.
Drawing on performance techniques such as contact improvisation, butoh, Lecoq physical theatre, tai chi and choral / vocal meditations, Burnt Mango believes that theatre is about being alive, in the moment.
Through dynamic movement and poetic imagery, the piece reflects upon the courage it takes to remain sensitive in an efficient world.
